Improving Home/School Communication

Our school's population is rich in diversity- including linguistic diversity. Part of the feedback received from the parent/guardian climate survey was regarding the need for additional clarity in the communication from the school. As a response to this feedback, our EIB Team will be implementing the school-wide use of the platform Talking Points to increase engagement and communication with our students' families. 

 

Talking Points will allow for SMS communication between the school and families to be automatically translated into the family's native language. This will allow our instructors to communicate seamlessly with all families- regardless of the language spoken at home. Staff will be receiving their Talking Point accounts set up with the students on their rosters in addition to training on the platform and the most effective way to utilize it. Our hope is that by implementing this new communication system and tool, the families of our students will feel more connected to their child's technical program and as a result, feel more connected to the school community.
