Research
The CMTHS EIB Team's mission and initiatives are informed by CMTHS's collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania's Consortium for Mental Health and Optimal Development. CMTHS Penn Consortium representatives meet with regional colleagues once a month to collaborate and learn from each other through professional development workshops run by the University of Pennsylvania. As part of the Penn Consortium work, each school or district selects projects to develop and/or refine with the guidance of the UPenn consultants and research team. CMTHS projects have centered around issues of equity, inclusion, and belonging and thus naturally support CMTHS's EIB work. This year's project has focused on a School Climate Survey.
School Climate Survey
During the 2022-2023 school year, CMTHS saw a large jump in student population, as well as many new staff and administrative team members. The EIB Team created an initiative designed to collect as much information about the current status of the mental health, well-being, and equity issues in our school building by conducting a school climate survey. The EIB Team connected with the Penn Consortium's research team to design climate surveys for four different school community populations including administrators, staff, students, and parents. These surveys were distributed and results from the surveys were collected and analyzed by UPenn's research team and then by our school's EIB team. This data gave our team information to propel us forward into additional projects for both the 2022-2023 school year and in the future.
